welcoming a baby is a season of metamorphosis

a season of becoming

a season of adjustments and transitions

A doula is a birth coach who supports a family during these major life changes.

A doula…

  • provides calm and customized education about pregnancy and birth

  • supports the birthing person as they reflect on their birthing preferences and develop a birth plan

  • helps families to think through postpartum planning

  • attends the birth to support both the birthing person and partner physically. mentally and emotionally

  • can provide postpartum care including breastfeeding support

  • can support a new parent(s) or parents who already have children.

  • may attend hospital births or home births

A doula’s role can vary based on the needs of the family.

However, a doula is not a medical professional and does not provide medical advice or bear medical responsibility.

Why hire a doula?

Hiring a doula can be beneficial for many reasons:

  • You will have a consistent coach throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum who helps guide you through these life transitions.

  • You will receive knowledge and concrete tools to help you prepare for your ideal birth.

  • Your partner will receive support as they also enter a new stage in their life and relationship as partner and parent.

  • Many studies document the benefits to maternal mental health, shortened duration of labor, fewer interventions, benefits to initiating breastfeeding and postpartum recovery with a doula’s support. If you do an online search for the “Doula Effect,” you will see that many studies have scientifically documented this positive effect.

Having a doula is not a new trend. Historically, experienced and knowledgable women have attended the births of family and friends.

In this JAMA meta study from 2026, science is now “catching up” on something that was obvious to our ancestors: having continuous support during these important life transitions is beneficial.

What is the cost and what is included?

Hi! I’m Lindsay.

I look forward to getting to know you and your thoughts and feeling about your upcoming birth.

I believe that having a positive birth experience is about being both prepared and open about entering this new chapter in your life. When we work together, we will approach your preparation with 4 lenses: the physical; the psychological; the spiritual; and the community that the baby and mother or birthing parent will be born into.

As your doula, I aim to help you increase connection with yourself, your baby, your partner and your community as you give birth and enter (or re-enter) the phase of new parenthood.

About me:

I am a full-spectrum doula, passionate about all things birth. Full-spectrum means that I work with all stages of family planning such as pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.

Completing the Hypnodoula training course in May of 2026, I learned from the best: Opokua Britton Cavaco, Anneli Lundblad and a host of other amazing teachers including midwives, psychologists and physiotherapists.

I am a mother of two, both of whom entered into the world with the support of doulas. My life-changing experiences with doula care inspired me to train and bring that level of advocacy and empowerment to my doula practice.

In addition to my work as a doula and a mother, I am an artist, illustrator and teacher. Motherhood and matrescence (or the process and transition of becoming a mother) often enters into the theme of my art making.

I host creative workshops, at places like Urban Artists and Mon Village Caio, supporting other mothers to reflect on their experiences through the lens of creative practices such as ceramics and drawing.
